AUDITIONS

Turning Your Dream of Being a Star into Reality

Becoming an acting or modeling star is a common dream among many young people today. This is due largely in part to the glamorous appeal of these jobs and the large amount of money you can earn from them. You see celebrities on TV and in magazines wearing fabulous clothes, driving fancy cars, and living in luxurious homes—who wouldn’t want to live the life of the rich and famous?! Some young people do have luck on their side and are just “discovered” seemingly overnight, but it’s not quite that simple and even they know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to become the best actor or model they can be. Modeling and acting jobs are really fun and cool as well as very demanding. You must be willing to work hard to succeed and turn your dream of becoming a star into reality.

Preparing for the Job

It is important that anyone who wants to become a model or actor do their homework first before deciding to enter the business. You want to make sure that either is really right for you. Once you have decided that you want to pursue a career in acting or modeling, you can now start to prepare your self for the job. This is extremely important because if you want to land a booking, you need to know how to AUDITION. Every actor and model must audition for a part on a TV show, movie, or a modeling job and meet the requirements of the director, producer, designer or client, before they can book the job.

One of the best ways to prepare yourself for auditions is to join acting and modeling workshops in an area near you. Do your research and find out if they offer workshops that are suitable for your age. These jobs are very competitive, so being armed with excellent workshops will greatly improve your chances of getting selected for the job. The workshops will help you with particular types of modeling like Commercial Print, Fashion Print, Promotional or Runway. Workshops can train you in proper acting audition techniques. Workshops provide you with the tools to help you prepare for your first modeling or acting booking.

Looking for Acting and Modeling Bookings

Once you have completed all the necessary preparation workshops, it is now time to actually find some acting and modeling auditions. Getting signed with a good agency will help increase your chances of landing great acting and modeling bookings. Acting agents will inform their actors about movies, TV, and commercial auditions when roles come up that are right for them. Casting Directors often consult with some of their trusted agencies to find fresh faces and new talented individuals with great potential of making it big in business. Agents have an eye for looks and talent, so you’ll have to give your best when meeting with them to get signed.

Models, on the other hand sign with a modeling agency that will act as their manager and will find appropriate castings for them. Clients usually send the requirements to the agencies that include age bracket, gender, and the look they are going for. Agents will notify you with the details that are suitable for you.

Auditioning is typically the hardest part about getting the booking. This is where you must prove to everyone that you are the one they are looking for. Choosing the right actor or model for the job is not limited to a pretty face or slender body. People in charge of selecting the right candidate will be more concerned about the talents and skills of each applicant, and how well they represent the role or product-- keeping this in mind while preparing for the audition is very important.

Your agency may give you sides or a script to read before the audition. You will either be asked to memorize lines or just familiarize yourself with the material before going on the audition. Models must be able to walk the runway or show the clothes or product to the best of their ability. Do you know the difference between posing for a picture and photo movement? Remember an audition or casting is a job interview and you must be prepared to show your “professionalism” which is valued so much in the entertainment world. You should show that you can perform the tasks assigned to you and you know how to follow instructions. You may have the look or the talent, but if you don’t take your work seriously, it will be difficult to make it in the industry.

Choosing Your Talent Agency

Be very careful with whom you choose to work. Make sure that the talent agency is known and respected. Most reputable, legitimate agencies will first ask you to read a monologue or sides from a script. That being said, Ice Model Talent has been in business for over 30 years. They will help increase your chances of becoming a model or actor and will bring you closer to achieving your dreams.

Although these workshops are extremely important for the acting & modeling experience, we at Ice truly believe that it will also help you develop confidence, poise, personal awareness & most importantly ” life skills” for all walks of life.
“Good Luck”
